No More Gun Violence

Earlier today 50 students at South Broward High School decided to stage a walkout to end gun violence and they sent the nation a message:

Enough is Enough.

How can we expect to start eliminating gun violence if we can't even start a dialogue about solutions? Gun control is necessary. No matter what you believe in, death by assault rifle is unacceptable and it means there is something that needs to be done.

Two days ago in Florida, a 19 year old gunman decided to take the 17 lives of students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The nation is grieving, and the families and loved ones of those who have passed are grieving and suffering the most.

There is no silver lining in this situation and the best we can hope for is prevention for the future. These students that organized in solidarity are trying to do just that. They gathered on the street coming together to promote gun control and school safety.

So if there is anything we can all learn from this situation it is that, it is in the people's hands to urge lawmakers and policymakers to act on our behalf, for our own safety, to protect and preserve our communities. And silence and inaction when it comes to issues like this one are unacceptable.
